beginning 18th. century  around 1905   before 1924   after 1926   todays view

A broad path is now leading us downwards to the settlement on the stream. The first building we see on the left side below the path is the restored ancient primary school (today‘s alpine shed), behind there is the ruin of the hospital (station for the sick and room for the dead), in the front on the right side one can see the biggest building, the untere Kaue only restored outside, right from that the forge which was built up again, behind that beyond the water channel the ruins of two stables (for horses and small livestock). In the illustration of the mountain book of Schwaz from 1556 only the forge is illustrated, beside that a crucifixion group with a roof, which cannot be found anymore, some metres above the "untere Kaue" there still is the base of a huge crucifix, which still can be seen on older photos (around 1930). On one illustration of the first half of the 18th century one can already see on this place a bigger heap of buildings with several extensions, clearly visible on the left behind is the forge with the water inflow and the biggest building the "untere Kaue". Here happened the disaster with the avalanche of 1693 which destroyed the original miner‘s quarter. Left beside the forge there is the entrance hole of the "Erw" (main gallery). Remarkable is the pile of wood as big as a house at the right edge of the settlement.
